A Message from the Camp Director

This summer Wesley Woods is inviting our campers to explore the Space created by God in Creation. The Space lost by sin, and the Space redeemed by Christ and His resurrection. God being the triune God who created all things had a plan for us. When Adam and Eve listened to another voice, who called God a liar, but was really the liar, Adam and Eve chose to listen and the first result was fear. Now instead of being cared for, humanity now said it would care for itself. God did not want the separation (space). God in His love and mercy continued to work with humans, flaws, and all, and only destroyed humans when they were corrupted with only evil thoughts. Time and time again God would pursue humanity, and try to deal with the illness of sin, which as it is cultivated leads to death. So, what the enemy means for evil, God works it to accomplish His Plans of Good. The space created by sin is not something God wants. He does not want evil, but to have a creation that is not free to choose would be out of His character. We are faced with an evil that leads to destruction. However, God creates a space for us to come together and forge a life together, that faces all events, tragedies, and accomplishments, sharing life together.

Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.

But God comes into our time and Space…He is God with us, He has joined us in taking on our humanity and becoming brother to each of us. Then in hours of darkness He joined us in our sin.

2 Corinthians 5:21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him!

This is eternal life, a NOW life, 1 John 5:11-12 The Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are all one in thought and purpose, but not one in being, God the Father, is not the Son, nor the Holy Spirit, but they are One in purpose and that Purpose has chosen Humanity to be who He wants to bring into the family. Christ in Us, together with the Father, Through the Holy Spirit. We need to give our thoughts to Him and allow Him to place us in Him and let our thoughts and prayers continually grow.

Space by TobyMac

“But what do we do with this space

What do we do with this space between us

How can we start to erase

How can we start to erase this space between us

I got nothing but love for you

(Nothing but my love for you)

And I know you feel the same way too

But this space, what do we do with this space between us

Love keeps no record

No record

Love keeps no record

It keeps no record

Love keeps no record

We are never too far gone”

It’s going to be a great summer at The Woods!  We can’t wait to see you there!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION

What is the cost of attending Wesley Woods Summer Camp?
The cost of attending Wesley Woods Summer Camp depends on the length and type of camp. Please see our Day or Overnight Camp pages for specific camp pricing.  We ask that a $30 non-refundable deposit be paid at the time of registration. As most of our camps have a wait list, failure to pay the deposit may result in your camper losing their spot at camp. The remaining balance is due by the check-in of your camp week. Payments can be made with cash, check/money order, or electronic payment.  Please make checks payable to Wesley Woods Camp. (Please note that only cash & checks are accepted on the morning of registration). Online payments can be made through the Friday before your camp week.

Is financial assistance offered for summer camps?
Scholarships are available to those who have a need.  Please, only one scholarship per camper, per year.  Those requesting scholarships can attend one camp per summer.  Scholarships can be requested at the time of registration simply by checking the “Yes” box on the scholarship question.  If requesting a scholarship, the camp asks that you please still pay the $30.00 deposit, to secure your camper’s spot. If you are unable to pay the deposit, please contact the church office. As most of our camps have a wait list, failure to pay the deposit or contact the church office to make other arrangements may result in your camper losing their spot at camp. Please inquire for scholarship information by contacting the Winchester First United Methodist Church office at (859) 744-5410 or by email: sarahbeth@winfumc.org.

What do I do if the camp is full and there is a waitlist?
Many of our camps fill up quickly.  We offer waitlists for those camps once they fill up.  If there is a waitlist, it will be reflected on the registration form, advising you are signing up for the waitlist.  You can still register as normal, which will place campers on the waitlist in the order they register.  If/when spots open, we will fill those spots in the order the camper is on the waitlist.  No deposit is required to be placed on the waitlist.  If your camper is moved from the waitlist to a camp spot, we will contact you via phone or email and ask that you pay the deposit at that time.  Our camp has limited beds for overnight camps, so no guarantee is made that campers on the waitlist will get to attend camp.

How do I know which camp to register my camper?
Campers may register for camps based on the grade they will have completed as of Summer 2024.  For example, if your camper just completed the 3rd grade, they would be eligible for all camps that include 3rd graders.

What other documentation is required for my child to attend summer camp?
Once the application is received a medical release form and a waiver will be mailed. It must be completed and on file before the start of camp.  Further, a copy of the front and back of the camper’s medical insurance card is also requested to be provided.

What are the Check-In/Check-Out Procedures?
Check-in and final registration for each week of camp will take place each Monday at Winchester First United Methodist Church (204 South Main St) in the back of the building.
Day camp check-in is between 8:00 am and 8:30 am on the Monday of camp and Tuesday-Friday, parents are asked to have campers checked in as close to 8:00 am as possible so kids can get their fun camp day started. Pickup is Friday at 4:30 pm in the back church parking lot.

Overnight camp check-in and registration will take place at 8:00 am on the Monday of their camp week. Campers will return to the church on Friday at noon.
**Parents: Please make every effort to pick up your child on time.  If you cannot pick your camper up at the times listed, please contact the church office to inform them.

What is Wesley Woods cell phone policy?
